New Cars Women Love & Hate to Drive
What are some of the things women look for when shopping for a new car? Safety, comfort and reliability are a few, with fuel economy not far behind. Most men are on the other end of the spectrum, with speed and power at the top of the list.
This may sound stereo-typical, but according to Consumer Reports, they interviewed more than one million consumers in their last owner satisfaction survey to confirm the above “wants” to be true. Many of the surveyed owners said they would buy the same vehicle when asked if they had a second chance to do it all over again.
This is the first year Consumer Reports separated the survey by gender. The one vehicle men and women can both agree on, along with receiving the highest praise, is the Tesla Model S. The Tesla’s power, luxurious interior, and innovative electric motor that allows you to drive up to 225 miles on a single charge, earned it the highest rating ever with Consumer Reports.
Women are less likely to purchase sports cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette or various Porsche models like the 911, Caymen or Boxter. Men, on the other hand, are less likely than women to buy a hybrid vehicle. The only hybrid to make it on the men’s list is the Honda Accord Hybrid
According to the survey, women also love to drive pickups. The Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Silverado received really high marks, proving fuel economy isn’t everything. Lexus and Mercedes-Benz are favorites for women in the luxury vehicle category.
One of the most interesting facts about the owner satisfaction survey was that most of the vehicles to make it on the women’s list is comprised of vehicles that have earned very high scores with Consumer Reports. However, the same can’t be said about the men’s choices.

Competition Between Dealers Always Gets You the Best Price
When negotiating a new car’s price, it’s important to know the dealer invoice price and what other people are paying for the same vehicle in your local area. Otherwise, you won’t know what’s a good price to pay for the vehicle. I highly recommend using an online referral service such as Ryde Shopper and Motor Trend, their quotes will automatically include any discounts or cash-back incentives currently available.
In addition, the above sites will tell you which dealerships in your local area are currently the most flexible with their new car pricing. These sites provide valuable information for anyone thinking about buying or leasing a new car or truck.
