Top 20 Luxury Used Cars Over $30,000

Large luxury cars depreciate faster than most any other brand new vehicle on the market. Some luxury models will lose more than fifty percent of their original manufacturer’s retail suggested price (MSRP).

This is great news for anyone in the market for an affordable pre-owned luxury vehicle. Many of these vehicles come back in the system as low mileage lease returns and trade-ins making them readily available in dealerships across the nation.

However, not all luxury vehicles are created equal. Below you will find the top 20 large luxury used cars for $30,000 and up.

USNews rates used cars in several different categories such as performance, interior, cost to own, safety, reliability, and overall critics rating. Averaging these six scores to come up with an overall rating. You can read more about their ranking system here.

The 2014 Cadillac CTS shares the top spot with the 2012 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, both with an overall used car score of 9.0. The CTS starts out a little cheaper with an average price of $27,303 – $52,346. Both have decent fuel efficiency with 20 City / 30 hwy.

Lexus, Toyota’s luxury brand, has six of the twenty spots on the list. The 2014 Lexus GS holds the third spot with an overall score of 8.8. The GS is powered by a strong V-6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission (the all-wheel-drive model comes with a six-speed auto transmission). The GS gets an average 19 MPG city and 19 MPG highway and the vehicle has very agile handling and a very pleasant ride. My advice is, If you’re looking to buy a used luxury vehicle, you better add this one to your list.

Infiniti also has a firm hold on the top twenty list with four spots. In a four-way tie with Mercedes-Benz and Lexus, the 2012 Infiniti M has an overall used car score with USNews of 8.5. With an original MSRP of $47,700 – $61,700, you can pick one up today for almost half. The average price paid for a 2012 M is only $30,606 – $38,163, making this vehicle a one of the better deals on the list. The vehicle has a firm ride but also has one of the most impressive performances in its segment. If you’re looking for power and performance, you will want to test drive the M.

Do Research Online When Used Car Shopping

Keep in mind, when buying a used car or certified used car you must do two things. First, check the used car’s title history using a service such as AutoCheck to make sure the vehicle has not been in a severe accident or has a branded title. If the title shows to be clean, the second thing is always have the vehicle inspected by an independent certified mechanic before signing on the dotted line. This will greatly reduce the chances of you buying someone else’s problems.

If you’re considering the purchase of a pre-owned vehicle for your teen driver, I recommend using a free online referral services such as Ryde Shopper and Motor Trend. These services will tell you what others are paying for the vehicle you’re considering in your local area and which dealers give the greatest discounts.
